Our Story
Floral Energy was founded in 2024 by three business leaders with deep engineering expertise, who recognised an emerging crisis: the exponential growth of AI, cloud computing, and electrification—colliding with ageing power infrastructure that can’t keep pace. Across the globe, major energy users are facing 10+ year delays to grid access, escalating costs, and growing pressure to decarbonise.
They saw that the world needed a new kind of energy system — one that could deliver ultra-reliable, scalable power today, while paving the way for a cleaner future.
With their backgrounds in next-generation nuclear technologies — SMRs and fusion — our founders believe that, for larger applications, these will be the eventual choice for delivering 24/7, zero-carbon power at scale. These technologies, however, are not with us now and will take time to mature. Intermittent renewables are key pieces of the puzzle today, but the high cost of grid-scale storage limits their ability to meet today’s demand — let alone tomorrow’s. Interim solutions are needed that evolve to integrate next-gen, zero-carbon solutions as they become available.

Founded in 2021 by Paul Tobin, GridSwitch is a forward-thinking service provider that manages all aspects of a distributed energy portfolio. GridSwitch provides customised energy management solutions from project inception to asset end-of-life. With a dedicated, experienced team and an advanced, customised financial and technical performance platform, they take on-board all of the operational stress and cost unpredictability to deliver reliable, predictable power supply aligned with customer's financial and performance objectives.
